Contract between the Prussian government and the British entrepreneurs Fox and Crampton for the supply of ‘running water’ to the City of Berlin.
1999
The Land of Berlin transforms Berliner Wasserbetriebe into Berlinwasser Holding AG, which is structured as a private enterprise.
1878
Establishment of a municipal sewerage department.
2000
Strategic reorientation towards the potential of growth in international activities. The international activities of the Berlinwasser Group are bundled in the newly created Berlinwasser International GmbH, a private limited company.
1924
Integration of water supply and wastewater management into a subsidiary wholly owned by the City of Berlin.
2002
Transformation of the private limited company BWI GmbH into a public limited company, in effect from 2003. BWI AG to serve as the platform of the Berlinwasser Group, from which products and services will be brought into the international water and wastewater market.
1961
Separation of Berlin into East Berlin and West Berlin.
2002
Berlinwasser International Ltd. leads all of its foreign subsidiaries, with over 2,250 employees in nine different countries.
1992
Merger of East and West Berlin water utilities into ‘Berliner Wasserbetriebe’.
2005
Successful growth in the Chinese water market.
1994
Transformation of Berliner Wasserbetriebe into a public law corporation and with that, the beginning of its international activities, which take the form of consulting projects in Central and Eastern Europe, the Asia Pacific region and Latin America.

Entry in to the markets in the Gulf Region and Ukraine
