German Water Management Industry Supports Bulgaria

Berlin _ On the occasion of the trade talks between the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Dieter Ernst, CEO Berlinwasser International AG, made it clear that German water management companies are interested in actively supporting the development of sustainable water management in Bulgaria.

The Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure, Rosen Asenow Plevneliev explained that currently in Bulgaria a legislative procedure is pending for a structure in which responsibilities among communities, water associations and the federal government is clarified. The minister said participation by German business in further rehabilitation of the water supply and wastewater disposal systems is definitely welcome.

In the past, Berlinwasser International AG has been involved in projects in Sofia, Shumen, Varna and Plovdiv. Berlinwasser Management Consult, the consulting firm for Berlinwasser International AG, was just awarded a contract in Stara Zagora for an EBRD-financed project for the institutional strengthening of the local water and wastewater company.
